Use a Outdoor Fountain To Help Boost Air Quality

If what you want is to breathe life into an otherwise dull ambiance, an indoor wall fountain can be the solution. Setting up this type of indoor feature positively affects your senses and your general health. brk_344_1_1__82941.jpg The science behind this theory endorses the idea that water fountains can favorably affect your health. Water features in general produce negative ions which are then counterbalanced by the positive ions produced by the latest conveniences. Favorable changes to both your mental and physical health take place when the negative ions are overpowered by the positive ions. You can become more alert, calm and lively due to an increase in the serotonin levels resulting from these types of features. The negative ions generated by indoor wall fountains promote a better mood as well as remove air impurities from your home. In order to rid yourself of allergies, impurities in the air and other aggravations, be sure to install one of these. And finally, water fountains are great at absorbing dust and microbes floating in the air and as a result in improving your overall health.

Characteristics of Garden Statuary in Archaic Greece

The first freestanding sculpture was developed by the Archaic Greeks, a notable success since until then the sole carvings in existence were reliefs cut into walls and pillars. For the most part the statues, or kouros figures, were of adolescent and nice-looking male or female (kore) Greeks. Symbolizing beauty to the Greeks, the kouroi were crafted to look rigid and always had foot forward; the males were healthy, strong, and nude. The kouroi became life-sized starting in 650 BC. The Archaic period was an incredible time of transformation for the Greeks as they expanded into new forms of government, formed fresh expressions of art, and achieved knowledge of the men and women and cultures outside of Greece. Still these disagreements did not prohibit the growth of the Greek civilization. {

Installation and Maintenance of Large Outdoor Fountains

An important facet to think about is the size of the outdoor wall fountain in relation to the space in which you are going to install it. It will need a strong wall to support its total weight. So spaces or walls which are smaller will most likely require something light. You will need to have an electrical outlet in proximity to the fountain so it can be powered. There are many different types of fountains, each with their own set of simple, step-by-step directions.

Everything you will need to correctly install your outdoor wall fountain is normally provided in easy-to-use kits. The kit will include a submersible pump, the hoses and basin (or reservoir). Depending on its size, the basin can normally be hidden quite easily amongst the plants. Since outdoor wall fountains require little maintenance, the only thing left to do is clean it consistently.

Replenishing and cleaning the water on a consistent basis is very important. Remember to get rid of debris like leaves, twigs or dirt as fast as possible. Additonally, outdoor fountains should always be shielded from freezing temperatures during the winter months. If kept outdoors, your pump could break as a result of frigid water, so bring it inside during the winter. Simply put, your outdoor fountain will be around for many years to come with the correct care and maintenance.

A Fabulous Example of Roman Artistry: The Santa Maria in Cosmedin Water Fountain

Archaeologists and restorers alike have stumbled upon a wealth of heathen and Christian artifacts on the site of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The nearby basilica is mainly famous for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known neighborhood and was, therefore, not often visited. Since the nearby area was depressing and mostly abandoned, people were not particularly interested in visiting it. It was a this time that Pope Clement XI mandated the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri to put up a water fountain to refurbish the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin. The task of laying down the church’s foundation started on August 17, 1717.

The first stone to be placed in the foundation was consecrated and medals bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were also tossed in.
