How to play with the site Echecs-Courriel

After having accepted a game, when it's your move, you receive an e-mail which looks like that :

How to read the game

If you have ChessComment, it is generally possible to double-click on the attachement. See the documentation of this program to know its various possibilities.

ChessBase, SCID, WinBoard and some other chess programs, can also open the attachements in the same way.

If you don't receive an attachement, it may be because your opponent did not send it, or because your e-mail system has discarded it.

With ChessComment, select the text of the message (Ctrl-A), copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl-C), click with the right mouse button on the chess-board and choose "Paste PGN or FEN". You can alternatively just drag and drop the text on the Chessboard.

Other programs may have similar possibilities; failing that, read the last move and enter it manually in your software.

How to send your move

Using ChessComment, you only need to click the "envelope" and confirm, provided you have set the sending parameters.

SCID is also able to send both PGN as a text and in an attachement, allowing any equipment for your opponent

ChessBase 8 appear to be unable to send the attachement in PGN format. You have to save in this format and add the file to a message.

Eventually, if you have no chess program, you can quite simply answer the message with your e-mail software, by adding your move in the algebric notation, before the ending asterisk. Be very careful about the syntax and errors, and try to train yourself with an opponent using a good chess software.

In all cases, it is requested that you, or your software :

Have a look, if needed, at a reference on the PGN format.

If you conform these rules, it will be possible for your opponent to read the games without problems, and that will enable both of you to publish the game on the site echecs-courriel.net when it is finished.

If you have any concern, and you do not find an explanation above, or from your partners, please use the forum.
